(FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, 2/23/17) -- The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today calls on the FBI to investigate a threatening call left at a mosque in Dearborn, Mich. which spoke of Muslims needing to be "eradicated."

The Dearborn Police released audio of a threat left on the voicemail of the American Moslem Society in Dearborn.  The caller spoke that American Muslims "are going to be eradicated" in the era of Trump that they should "worry about the future of Muslim children."

CAIR-MI advised mosque officials to turn over the audio to law enforcement authorities.

"We ask the FBI to use their full resources to investigate the phone threat against the mosque as a possible federal hate crime," said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid.

Walid also noted that community members are concerned over a recent incident in which people were seen open carrying firearms in Dearborn in close proximity to two Islamic centers.

CAIR-MI advises any one who sees persons open carrying assault rifles or firearms by or in front of any house of worship to call the police immediately.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
