Mrs. Rahman is the office manager, who oversees the communications and operations for CAIR Michigan.
Mrs. Rahman graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and with a psychology minor. Rahman was a part of the Wayne State’s Journalism Institute for Media Diversity, a honors learning community, the Muslim Students’ Association and Bangladesh Students’ Association during her college career.
She has reported for The Muslim Observer, a national Muslim newspaper since 2010, and interned at local news industries including The South End, Wayne State University’s student newspaper, WDET 101.9 FM Wayne State’s Public Radio Station, and WJBK Fox 2 Detroit. She has also contributed to The Hamtramck Review, Hamtramck’s community newspaper.
Mrs. Rahman is passionate about community journalism in the Greater Detroit area. Shes hopes to give local American Muslims and minorities a voice in the press. She has researched the role of American Muslim politicians and leaders for The Muslim Observer Foundation, and received an award for writing, “A Model Muslim City (Politically): Hamtramck, Michigan.”
Her other writings include news and feature stories on Bangladesh, students organizations and events. She has received an award for community journalism through the Michigan Press Association in 2009. She was a former Associated Press Stringer during elections for Highland Park, Michigan.
