Mr. Akeel was selected as a Top 100 Trial Lawyers for 2010, 2011, and 2012, 2013, and 2014 by the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA). He was elected as a Lawyer of the Year for 2004 by the Michigan Lawyers Weekly, and nominated for 9 consecutive years in top 5% of attorneys in the State of Michigan by Super Lawyers Magazine for years 2006 to 2014,. Mr. Akeel obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1987. He graduated from Michigan State College of Law in. Now, Mr. Akeel specializes in employment law, personal injury and civil right. Mr. Akeel, also, has a CPA, and a Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State University.
Mr. Akeel has been involved in several high profile discrimination cases. The cases include discrimination claims in places of public accommodation, excessive force claims, and employment discrimination claims. Shereef has, also, taken his work internationally where he filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of all of the Iraqi prisoners, who were tortured in Abu Gharib, and elsewhere.
