CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid gave a keynote address entitled “Overcoming Islamophobia: What Muslims Need to Know,” discussing proactive methods of addressing Islamophobia and how anti-Muslim bigotry contributes to negative perceptions of American Muslims. He also spoke during a workshop at the conference entitled “The Vital Role of Networking.”
The conference’s theme, “The Future of Muslims in the West: Dreams and Challenges” focused on addressing social challenges of Muslim youth, marital issues and the importance of activism.
“American Muslims should be hopeful that through proactive dialogue and civic participation, we can help reduce Islamophobia in our society,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid.
